We are a Hermetic Teaching Order. As our field of interest and activity is strictly esoteric, that means we are not a religion. Our concern is with spiritual knowledge, whether that be of the cosmological or metaphysical order, and the means of acquiring it. Our methods include ritual, mantra and yoga-meditation.

Hermetic Tradition

The Hermetic Tradition is that which was disseminated to the world after the Egyptian tradition completely disappeared along with its spoken language. The aspect of Hermeticism known as alchemy (the Arabic name for Egypt) even permeated Christianity at one time. Alchemical texts also exist in Northern India (e.g., Nepal, Kashmir) and elsewhere. In modern times, Hermeticism, derived from the Greek name for Thoth or Tahuti, the God of Magick, writing, language, knowledge and learning as well as sacerdotal authority, has been applied to the Qabalah. It has easily absorbed influences as diverse as Masonry, Zoroastrianism and Gnosticism. It is a living tradition, notable for its ability to survive through constant adaptation as and when required.

Need for Living Spirituality Today

The modern world seems to have a great deal to offer but so much of it falls into the emptiness of enthralment with devices and machines that pretend freedom while increasingly exerting control over every aspect of our lives. Prevailing ideologies subversively narrow our perspective and flatten all spiritual traditions into a homogenous collection of New Age brands that have stripped away all elements of ritual and the supernatural. We have been programmed since birth by education and environment, corporations and governments, to objectify our selves so we are as far away as we possibly could be from our real Self. Spiritual knowledge and realisation means we have an opportunity to seize hold of our own destinies and reshape our experience of this existence here and now. We do not have to wait until tomorrow to get some remote notion of enlightenment, or pass on to another life to get certain knowledge.

Hermetic Order: Two portals to Initiation

1. Hermetic Qabalah. Our oldest or ‘original’ course is within what is loosely termed the Western Mystery Tradition. Occultism was originated by Eliphas Lévi who worked within the Judaeo Christian tradition with a particular interest in Kabbalah. This was then developed by subsequent generations of occultists, particularly aspects concerning practical magick based on the Tree of Life model. Most well known in Britain and America is the Golden Dawn and its multitudinous offshoots that proliferated throughout the twentieth century, including the notorious Aleister Crowley. This path involves practical Qabalah. It involves ritual and meditation practice, and the keeping of a diary record.
2. House of the Net (Egyptian Yoga). There is no use in reading books by Egyptologists or occultists to gain knowledge of the Egyptian tradition, which withdrew completely two thousand years ago. It can be understood, however, by inner knowledge of metaphysics and symbolism. The most complete metaphysics is found in Advaita Vedanta and Hindu darshanas, and this is how we bring to life a tradition that most think to be extinct, but which has in fact continued to be accessible to a select few in the realm of the esoteric.
